The mills' clear bodies are made of high-quality acrylic glass in combination with stainless steel. They are functional and beautiful on our table. The description on the USA Amazon site says the material is olivewood and clearly (see what I did there? ;-) ) it is not wood but acrylic and stainless steel. I do believe that Zassenhaus makes olivewood mills as well. We appreciate all Zassenhaus quality products. Communication and shipping from Germany was excellent. A+
